Enhance ballistic protection in tactical vehicles without adding excessive weight or complexity to the structure.

The Concept

In response to increasing demands for lightweight, high-strength defense solutions, Omnis partnered with a global defense contractor to develop next-generation armor components. The goal was clear: enhance vehicle survivability while minimizing additional mass, ensuring operational agility in high-risk zones.

Challenge

Enhance ballistic protection in tactical vehicles without adding excessive weight or complexity to the structure.

Material Used

Hybrid ceramic-metal composite with reinforced polymer core.

Impact

35% lighter armor, NIJ Level IV ballistic resistance, and streamlined integration into existing vehicle designs.

Military Vehicle

The Challenge

Modern armored vehicles require ever-improving protection against increasingly sophisticated threats, including armor-piercing rounds and IEDs. The challenge was to engineer a multi-layered protective material that could offer maximum defense without impairing speed, maneuverability, or fuel efficiency.

Our approach

Material Innovation

Engineered a multi-layer composite blending boron carbide ceramics with a reinforced polymer matrix and metalized backing for maximum energy absorption.

Advanced Manufacturing Process

Utilized custom layering techniques and high-pressure molding for consistent density and structural bonding across large surface areas.

Testing & Validation

Conducted simulated impact tests, followed by live-fire ballistic certification to validate resistance, weight performance, and field readiness.
